Hello All, i know some of you have known me for a while or not at all. for those that dont know me, first off hello!
second welcome to this thread where i'll start my research and development of rebuilding a 7afe (1.8L) engine block and 4AGE blacktop head, theres a bunch of info online and atleast 1 company that can make this all possible and so i will use those sources to build myself a 7age. So to start this thread, there is a bit of a story, nothing fancy but something we all have in common, looking for parts on the internet! i was going through looking through Battle Garage's,MRP's and TechnoToyTuning's website for maintenance stuff for my 4AGE mainly cause the cam gear on the intake side sounds like diesel which is a sign that needed to be change. Unfortunately for me i live in the states and looking for the part new is hard and having a 4AGE silvertop is very uncommon, so using toyodiy to look up the part number then looking through Megazip to see if there was a dealer in japan that had one in stock which in my unfortunate luck i couldnt find, so then my corolla sat (actually its still sitting ) but while i was roaming around browsing the internet looking for parts i stumbled upon eBay and while i was looking fr the cam gear, i found a JDM importer in Miami, Florida that had a 4age blacktop head for sale, while i knew if i just swapped head on my current engine i would have better airflow if i bought the BT head, unfornately for me when it was time to buy it, someone already bought it. and so my maintenance pursuit for the cam gear continued but with not much luck, so months past and now we're in the summer of 2022, and JDM Miami got another 4age BT head for sale. i jumped on the opportunity when the price was reasonable. and so it kicked off a few more parts, and making a trip down to a local junkyard (you can call it wreckers, car heaven whatever suits you.) and picked up a 7AFE for $530 USD from a 1997 model corolla. so now i have a 4age BT head, a 7afe motor thats ready for tear-down and a few maintenance parts that are compatible for this rebuild. i'll update with pictures later but for now thats the end of this story. till next time guys!
