Hi all i recetly got myself a 4AGZE Levin.
Just noticed the distributor was not bolted in. put a bolt in and now it won't start.
Has anyone else run into this problem?

you have to turn the distributor until the car starts then time with a timing light set at 10 deg at idle... bolt it down lightly then short the TE1-E1 with a paper clip so it enters into diagnostic mode then time it again with the same timing light so you get 10 deg exactly then bolt it securely and remove the clip and test.

This may be a 2 person job until the engine starts.... with one starting the car and the other one turning the distributor....

there are people setting the timing between 5 to 10 deg with some setting it at 8 deg since they say the GZE is sensitive to knock.... so timing is up to your discretion.

another way to go about this is to put the crank at TDC and the dizzy is at no 1 spark tower then remove the dizzy cap and ensure the rotor cap is pointing at where the number spark tower is located then adjust the housing so that you are approx 10 deg before that.... replace everything and test..... adjust as necessary and repeat again until engine starts then time as necessary.

Turned out to be a number of issues. I fixed that and rebuilt the engine. Pistons were destroyed. Anyway come to re installing the engine and my knock sensor broke. Now i am on the hunt for a knock sensor.
